Don't Talk Politics at the Dinner Table, But Learn the Language

Free Fouad
To The Bloggers of Saudi Arabia: Don't lose hope.
To The Readers of Sex Cigs and Caf: Don't forget how precious our first amendment rights are

Fouad al-Farhan, a popular Saudi Arabian blogger was arrested and detained for questioning about candid statements made on his site. Al-Farhan, 32, was apprehended December 10th and is still in custody. Fouad's site is known for its politically charged content Yesterday his close friend, and fellow blogger, appeared on CNN to speak out in his defense. As a blogger myself, new to the community, I think that this is a crying shame. Honestly bloggers are regular people, who try to share their thoughts with a broader amount of people. In a society such as the Saudi's have I feel that kind of expression may be exactly what people need. Freedom of Speech is a corner stone of Democracy, and I for one don't want to take it for granted. Many people in the United States would be put to death in other countries for the words that come out of their mouth. I for one have been diagnosed with ODM (Occasional Diarrhea of the Mouth) so I know that I should be thankful. Free Fouad in the name of justice.

Iowa Caucuses
A Wave of Change

Every year politicians try to marvel us with charisma, charm, and beautiful talk of change and the glorious America they will help build. Change talk, to me, is a class president nominee talking about how they'll get longer lunch period and a free snack for everyone. You know a plate full of pearls and a cup full of bullshit.
I was apart of a movement in Philadelphia to register people to vote, my fall semester 06. I like to call those my political activism days lol. But what I found from going up to people from all demographics (race, religion, creed, ethnicity, socio-economic) I found that all were in need of some change or another. Change is a necessary part of life, and election times always seem to be the times in American History when powerful and awe inspiring events take place. But who is really trying to deliver, and who is just talking that change talk? I'm tired of hearing these political elites exchange big words in a dead conversation.
