Think you're safe?

If you read my earlier post you probably know that I'm a big-time libertarian, one of our biggest issues is the 2nd Amendment, Gun Control. Looking at history, every Authoritarian regime has gone after the guns of the citizens, an armed citizenry is the largest check and balance we have. If we have guns we have the right to overthrow our government. This is what our founding fathers wanted for chrissakes! I've been doing some research for a final paper I'm writing for my Political Science class and I've come across the sad realization: The police have ZERO legal obligation to protect innocent citizens.

Fun Quotes...

  • "Neither a public entity or a public employee [may be sued] for failure to provide adequate police protection or service, failure to prevent the commission of crimes and failure to apprehend criminals.'' - California's Government Code, Sections 821, 845, and 846

What do those quotes mean?
  • The police are not obligated to even respond to your calls for help, even in life threatening situations?

  • SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) has ruled that the police are only constitutionally obligated to protect alleged criminals in custody. THATS IT.
Call me paranoid, call me a gun nut. But godammit I want the right to protect myself! If the police are not obligated to protect me from injury, you better be damn sure I'll protect myself.

We are two free negroes..and We'd like to stay that way. I'm not a gun nut either. I'm from North New Jersey. I see guns used the wrong way everyday. However we must realize that the gun is the new sword, and there was a time when everyone had a sword, despite whether or not lil' timmy could accidentally cut his face off. I don't think guns are a laughing matter. I think the way most people go about child rearing is a laughing matter.
